Frequently Asked Questions

We offer one level of insurance of up to £1,000,000 of coverage.

Product liability insurance is important for anyone who sells physical products, even as a reseller. This is because the seller is always the first point of call for a customer if something goes wrong. The seller is the party who will be held responsible and most likely to be the subject of a claim.

If a product you sell causes an injury to someone or damages their property, then you could be held liable, even if you didn’t make the product yourself.

You can benefit from carrying product liability insurance if:

  • You manufacture products.
  • You commission the manufacture of a product.
  • Your business name appears on the product, whether you manufactured the product or are a reseller of the product.
  • You are a business that repairs or repurposes products.
  • You are a business that imports materials, components, or products from outside the European Union for sale in the UK.
  • As a manufacturer or reseller, you have a ‘hold harmless’ agreement with any supplier which indemnifies the supplier’s liability. A ‘hold harmless’ agreement is a legal agreement between parties that states one party will not hold the other party liable for risk, danger, injury, or damages caused to the other party.
  • The manufacturer has gone out of business, then you as the seller of the product could be held liable.

Product liability insurance is provided as part of our Business Combined insurance policy, which starts from £212.00 Depending on your business type and level of risk. This will provide £1 million of product liability cover.

It will also provide as standard: employers’ liability insurance with up to £10 million of cover, public liability insurance with up to £1 million of cover, up to £2,500 of additional cost of working cover, up to £1,000 of portable equipment cover, and up to £250,000 of directors and officers insurance.

Professional Indemnity insurance (PI) will provide cover for business professionals who provide business services, advice or designs to clients and will cover against claims of negligent work.

Employers liability insurance (EL) will cover the cost of defending or settling a claim against you from an employee who has suffered injury or disease as a result of the work they do for you.

As a self-employed business owner, a claim can be made against you personally with unlimited personal liability, therefore Directors and Officers insurance (D&O) is An important type of insurance that will cover you in this instance. D&O is provided as part of our Business Combined insurance policy.

Legal Expenses insurance will also provide cover for costs incurred from a legal occurrence or claim that your indemnity and liability insurance does not cover, including the costs incurred from an IR35 tax investigation.

Cyber insurance, also known as cyber liability insurance, will cover your business in the event of a malicious attack on your computer systems and your data.

Personal accident insurance can provide cover for your loss of earnings while you are unable to work due to a work-related accident or illness caused by your work.

Commercial crime insurance can be beneficial to anyone who owns or runs a business, no matter how large that business is. Theft and other crime can have catastrophic consequences for a business and potentially to those who are connected to that business, such as suppliers and employees.
