In an increasingly-regulated working environment, it’s important to have insurance in place that fully protects your umbrella company and the employees and contractors who work within it.

Caunce O’Hara Insurance Brokers Limited (COHIBL) were the first broker to write and introduce an insurance policy specifically for umbrella companies in 2000. Since then they have been providing and enhancing our tailored product to meet the industry’s unique and frequently changing needs.

With vast experience and a thorough understanding of the market, they’re able to offer an insurance policy that responds immediately to  customers’ requirements, ensuring they’re fully protected and compliant.

They are also flexible enough to cater for evolving needs that may arise or indeed be forced upon you.

COHIBL’s Umbrella Insurance product provides maximum functionality whilst affording a comprehensive and wide ranging suite of covers underwritten in one policy by one insurer.

Umbrella company insurance is available from the award-winning insurance brokers at Caunce O’Hara Insurance Brokers Limited.

All the policies have been created specifically for the Umbrella & Payroll Industry and provide comprehensive cover for the unique requirements of today’s fast-paced businesses.

For many contractors embarking on a new contract the first port of call is often an umbrella company for payroll and associated services.

The umbrella company acts as your employer and once you’ve signed a contract with your umbrella they will pay you, make deductions of taxes, provide you with statutory pay where appropriate, arrange a work place pension for you, provide you with insurance and deal with HMRC on your behalf.

Some umbrella and payroll companies will provide you with other benefits such as discounts on certain products and services, offer childcare vouchers and deal with your agency and provide references when required.

100+ Umbrellas Insured For Over 20 Years

COHIBL has been insuring umbrella companies for a number of years and today has over one hundred umbrella and payroll companies as clients. They were the first broker to develop a bespoke insurance policy with a specific policy wording to meet the needs of those in the sector.

COHIBL holds full underwriting authority on behalf of insurers meaning that they can consider risks that umbrella companies face and set premium rates accordingly. Their efficient and dedicated in-house claims team is on hand to assist you in the event you need to call on your insurance.

The cost of insurance is often the second largest overhead an umbrella company has after staff costs. It’s therefore important to review premium spend.

The umbrella and freelancer work space has changed considerably over the years and COHIBL has adapted and innovated to ensure the sector is well served. Today they have the ability and capacity to insure umbrella company workers in hundreds of trades, occupations and professions including perceived high risk roles for a range of market sectors.

With comprehensive insurance, tailored for your umbrella company, you’ll know you’re protected.

You’ll benefit from competitive premiums, sector specialism and flexible coverage options, whilst receiving great support from expert advisers and handlers.

Protect your business, your way

Four specialist umbrella company insurance options are:

  1. Comprehensive umbrella cover: insurance for your company and your contracted employees.
  2. Block policy: covers the company and all personal service companies (PSCs) to which the company provides its services. Importantly, COHIBL Professional Indemnity cover is without an aggregate policy limit which means that each and every personal service company (PSC) enjoys its very own limit of cover without fear of a shared limit of cover being exhausted by another personal service company (PSC). All PSCs will be furnished with a verification certificate detailing their cover as part of your overall block policy.
  3. Set individual policies: if you’ve got appointed representative status, you can offer insurance directly to PSCs, including the capability to issue policy documents to set up cover quickly and easily for your PSCs.
  4. White label insurance: Via an introducer agreement, encourage sign-up and increase retention by offering discounted cover to PSCs on an individual basis, giving the freedom for the PSC to choose its own insurance package through your company’s website.
